Carrotmob is Coming to Provo!!!

by Teej on October 30, 2009

Provo, UT will now join the ranks of cities with businesses competing to become more environmentally active. This is done through a Carrotmob, the newest and most effective movement to help businesses make eco-friendly changes that benefit both the consumer and business owner.

This week we are approaching local businesses in Provo to ask them  to environmentally retr0-fit their own company by having a special event that will bring hundreds of consumers to their doors. This event is called a Carrotmob and it organizes consumers to shop in mass at a business that has previously committed to donate a percentage of their extra profits to make environmental updgrades. For example, let’s say a restaurant normally makes $2,000 in a day and they say that they will donate 50% of their additional revenue on Carrotmob day to make environmental upgrades on their business. When hundreds of consumers eat at that restaurant and they make $10,ooo dollars, then they will spend $4,000 (50% of their additional profits)  to make upgrades that benefit the business itself and the beautiful Utah environment.

Over the next week more than two dozen local restaurants will be bidding to see who will offer the highest percentage of additional profits from the event. Carrotmob is YOUR chance to support local eco-friendly businesses and improve the environment!

So when is the Carrotmob and how can YOU get involved?

December 5th, 2009 is the day to plan on and we will be updating often to report on the bidding so STAY TUNED. For now you can RSVP at the Facebook event page and watch videos from other Carrotmobs around the world. Welcome to the Movement that will keep Provo green.
